Art historian Joseph Paul Cassar presents a chronological framework for studying Rembrandt's vast output, moving from his time as a young, ambitious prodigy in his hometown; his early success; the height of his societal and financial peak; years of hardship and more introspective work; and his poignant final years. Cassar discusses Rembrandt's works within the historical context of the time, outlining his legacy in painting, drawing, and etching. ( World Art History Certificate elective, 1/2 credit)
