ThingsToDC aggregates events from public sources — DC Public Library, the Smithsonian Institution, Ticketmaster, and the National Park Service — and surfaces them by intent. Free things to do this weekend. Family-friendly options for a rainy Saturday. Date-night picks. Things happening tonight. We built it because most DC event sites make you scroll through everything to find anything.

On top of the event aggregation, we maintain a curated layer: editorial lists of the best places to eat and drink, neighborhood guides for both DC residents and first-time visitors, and a handpicked places database for the spots that come up every time someone asks “where should we go?” Those are judgment calls — we decide what's in, and we stand behind the picks.

We're an independent project, not a directory that charges for placement. When you see a ticket link, it goes straight to the source platform — Ticketmaster, Eventbrite, or the venue's own box office. We don't take a cut. If something's wrong or missing, tell us. If you run a DC venue or organization and want your events pulled in, reach out.
