The Concopia Washington Assembly

Oct 18, 2026, 1:30 PM ETMartin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library - Central LibraryFree

We have carefully curated a gathering of artists, thinkers, builders, scientists, civic designers and cultural luminaries for an afternoon of inspiring microtalks, deep conversations, and Concopian wonders. This is not a conference or a conventional gathering. It is a chamber of inquiry, imagination, and reenchaments—created to encourage cross-pollination across disciplines and allow unexpected connections to take root. Throughout the Assembly, guests will join small circles, where the conversations will be shaped by the distinct perspectives, experiences, and presence of the participants. Together we will explore what becomes possible when remarkable people meet one another beyond their familiar disciplines, roles, and certainties. Because these conversations depend upon the presence and contributions around the table, we ask that guests commit to participating in the full experience, from beginning to end. The Concopia Assembly will be hosted by Nadja Pass, a civic designer and salonnière from Denmark who is also the co-founder and co-creator of Concopia, and Meaghan O’Connor, Director of Service Design & Engagement at the DC Public Library. Expect deep human encounters. Unexpected resonance. And the elements of poetry and nature connectedness that flows through Concopian conversations to allow us to approach the complex questions of our times in new ways. Throughout September and October we are hosting conversation salons inside The Concopian Chamber of Wonders that are open for the public. This particular assembly, however, is by invitation only and invitations are not transferable. Please RSVP by October 14 and confirm that you will be able to remain with us for the full Assembly. We very much hope you will join us.
