The Peirce Mill Grain Fair celebrates the long history of farming, milling, and baking in DC and the Mid-Atlantic. Enjoy hands-on activities, cooking demonstrations, and live music at this free, family-friendly festival in Rock Creek Park. And purchase local, whole grain foods at our Shoemaker Street Market. Grain Classroom Schedule 10:30 to 11:30am: Multi-Grain Pancakes Family Workshop with FRESHFARM FoodPrints Families will grind grain by hand, then learn how to make multi-grain pancakes with FoodPrints educator Margi Fineran. 12:30 to 1:30pm: Tamale-Making Demonstration with Raíces Culturales Latinoamericanas Learn how to make tamales with chipilin, a nutritious Central American herb. We’ll have samples of these traditional tamales to taste. 2:30 to 3:30pm: Pasta-Making Workshop with FRESHFARM FoodPrints In this hands-on workshop, FoodPrints educator and pasta expert Carol Murphy will share tips on preparing pasta at home.
